Sprocket Hole Subs
We are a group dedicated to the notion that anime shouldn't just look good, but should SOUND good as well. We work the sound with the same loving care that many video encoders do for the picture.
The group is so named because we use AC3, rather than MP3 as used for XviD/AVI releases and other formats (usually Ogg-Vorbis and AAC) for H.264/MKV releases. Normally, AC3 resides between the sprocket holes on 35mm film stock of movie release prints. AC3 is more commonly known by its brand name, "Dolby Digital", though we cannot use the name with our releases (see the Aften website under "Disclaimer" for more details).
The CCCP offers a simple route to add AC3 support for playback of our releases.
Like H.264, AC3 can be offloaded to hardware for decoding and equalization.
