CRC Checking Files without a SFV file
So you've grabbed a file without a SFV, but the CRC is in the filename. Excellent.
Guide
- Before starting, you need FileCheck.
After you download the FileCheck, unzip it into a directory of your choosing. I suggest making shortcut for FileCheck.exe on your desktop so you don't have to browse for it every time.
Open up FileCheck --> Browse for the file you want to check --> then click on the file, and hit SCAN. The result will be displayed on the top right corner after the program generates a CRC to compare against. Now check whether the CRC on the file matches the one generated by FileCheck: if they match, the file is fine, BUT if they DON'T match, the file is corrupt.
One other thing can do with FileCheck is you can check CRC of a whole directory. Click on Directory SCAN. To view the result open FileList.TXT which is by default set to c:\
If you get a CRC error you have two choices:
- 1. Re-download the file.
- 2. Patching the file (saves a lot of downloading time).
