CCCP for iPhone and Android

(1/1)

Teleske:
A CCCP mobile app :))

Will be happy to pay for an apple developer account just to see this appear on the app store.

JEEB:
The CCCP in itself is a collection of DirectShow-based software, which kind of binds it all to Windows, so a playback solution that would be 'CCCP' like it is on desktop would be impossible.

As for creating something separate, Apple's app store is first of all completely out of the question. Their license, as far as I know, completely prohibits using LGPL/GPL software in the applications as both licenses make the distributor put at least some source code out (do correct me if this is incorrect). Also, I have no idea if Apple gives straight access to the hw decoders (instead of just accessing a file with the API and then getting it parsed).

The Android side of things would be more possible, and with Android 4.1's new APIs we finally have access to the hardware decoders without also leaving the parsing of the whole media file to the system. But the problem really is in the fact that there's a lot of such applications around already. They still have left a lot of place for getting certain stuff implemented properly, but I would think that VLC for Android could get 'good enough' at one point.

Teleske:
My guess is that hw decoders can be accessed directly. The default apple video player can't play mkv files. But there are some apps that can play mkv files but it's often laggy if it is above 700mb and will lag alot when you are selecting a particular time on the timeline scrollbar.

Really hoping for some form of CCCP app! Where the CCCP team can make it possible to play high res mkv files on the iPhone.
