Help uninstalling coreAVC and installing CCCP properly
« on: July 21, 2012, 06:57:43 AM »

Hello,

On my computer, i have previously had CoreAVC v3.0.1, but later uninstalled this. Then i installed CCCP, the latest version, which gave me problems with the renders.
So i tried uninstalling that CCCP, and installing an older CCCP, the 2011-07-30 version, which fixed the problem with renders, but there started occuring all kinds of holes and irregularities in the videos while watching.

I'm wondering if i can get any help with this, i presume the problem is the coreAVC which hasn't uninstalled everything while uninstalling, and thus making the CCCP not work properly.
So what i want help with is to uninstall CoreAVC properly and then get CCCP working properly. I do not want to reinstall windows if that is possible, that is why i am asking for help here.

I realize this is the CCCP forum, and asking for help getting rid of CoreAVC here might he somewhat inappropriate, but i would be grateful for any help.

What kinds of problems? Did you install the latest directx runtimes before installing and resetting settings?

I guess i could use this to show what i mean: The first screenshot being how it shows for me with the render problems, and the second one being how it shows without render problems (Minus some color correction)
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/135216

Mostly grain and blocks and banding appear there with the render issues, and are not there (Or not visible) when not having render issues.

And i did not install any directx runtimes, no. Do i need to?

I have reinstalled the version of CoreAVC again, because this way it to some extent works a little better than how is used to be. However it does not work properly when encoding, which is a problem.

So now i have CCCP 2011-07-30 and CoreAVC 3.0.0.1 installed.

I just installed the latest CCCP, without uninstalling the previous version or the CoreAVC, and things only got worse. I still have the same render problem, but now i additionally get errors popping up while starting up the computer.

Edit: I just unregistered all CoreAVC filters, reset and re-registered CCCP settings, and rebooted, and the error messages stopped, thankfully. The problem with the renders still remain. Here is the steps you wanted me to follow:

Step 1: http://i.imgur.com/JisoB.png     (If you look here, you will see the problem i mean. That screen is supposed to be completely black aside from the text. About same place in the video seen though avsp using directshowsource only: http://i.imgur.com/Rv1bb.png )

Is View-> Renderer Settings-> Output Range-> 0-255 set? Also, try test with Haali's video renderer in MPC-HC (View-> Options-> Output).

Output range was already at 0-255. However the problem was fixed after changing to the Haali renderer.

This is very odd though, because i have 4 other computers i play/encode anime on, and none of them have had this problem.
One of my laptops which i just checked uses EVR renderer. I forgot to check which renderer my desktop used before i changed it to haali, but i think it was set at "System Defaults".

Do you know if keeping CoreAVC installed, though with all it's filters unregistered will have any effect on encoding videos for instance?

And thank you very much for your help.

If it's unregistered, there is no effect.

Try check in ATi/AMD Catalyst Control Center for a "Dynamic Contrast" or similar option that might be affecting the colour of blacks. Haali's Renderer isn't affected by such an option which means that the fault lies within EVR Custom or in graphics cards options.

Everything video/color related in the Catalyst control centre seems to be set to "use application defaults".

Even this?
In the Catalyst Control Center (Advanced modus) go to Video, then "All", go down to "Advanced Quality" and disable "Enable dynamic contrast".

You probably need to install the latest DIrectX runtimes:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Then, try a reset of settings using the second page of the CCCP Settings application.

If you want to avoid this, you could try change renderer to EVR or Haali is okay, but there is a bit of a colour tint.
