New v of CCCP = Vorbis 5.1 problem
« on: September 10, 2009, 08:36:51 AM »
Hello, I have a problem when the audio is vorbis 5.1 chanels. It "crackles". I read the FAQ and it was already set up correctly. The problem accures only with vorbis 5.1 chanels. When its stereo or it's ac3 5.1 for example it's fine. I didn't have this problem with the previous version of the codec pack.
When I disable vorbis from ffdshow audio decoder it plays fine. I looked at the filters and it says "vorbis audio decoder (low merit)". I have only the CCCP instaled, the insurgent confirms that.
I also tried WMP player. With it it's the same with the ffsdshow audio decoder, but there is no sound when vorbis is disabled. I guess MPC is using a filter of its own. I tried looking for it in the "internal filters" section, but the only filter that says vorbis isn't checked.

I tried reinstalling the pack and it didn't work.

System info:

Windows XP SP2
Processor: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3300+,  MMX,  3DNow, ~2.0GHz
DirectX version: DirectX 9.0c
Physical RAM: 1023MB
Virtual Memory: 2047MB

Audio Information
Audio Device:    Realtek AC97 Audio
Driver Name:    ALCXWDM.SYS
Driver Version:    5.10.0000.6020 | 2/8/2006 15:44:00
Default Sound Playback: true
Default Voice Playback: true

I would have tried updating my sound drivers, but I don't know my sound card type.

Now this is not a big deal. Vorbis 5.1 are not your every day files and I can get it to work if I need to, but it still bugs me.

Please excuse my bad english.

Is AC3Filter in Add/Remove programs? If so remove it, then go to CCCP settings, 2nd page, reset settings and re-register filters and try playing again.

No, there are no stand alone filters in the Add/Remove Programs. There are some codecs, but I don't think they're a problem.

Divx, Xvid, Lagarith, Lame MP3, Quick Time, Real Alternative and Realtek AC'97 Audio.

I installed a newer version of Realtek AC'97 Audio. Nothing changed. Should I do the tests again? Sry if I shouldn't have done it, just figured it needed an update anyway.

I should've noticed earlier: AC3Filter seems to be part of TotalVideoConverter. Uninstall that, then to reset settings/re-register filters and see what happens.

No effect. I can make a screenshot of my Add/Remove Programs, so you can check it for suspicious software if you would like?

Open CCCP Settings, on the second page check 'reset all settings'.

open ffdshow audio config, go to the codecs page and select 'vorbis'. Is it set to 'libavcodec' and is 'vorbisgain' unchecked?
