No D3DX9 dll Found?
« on: August 14, 2009, 01:20:40 PM »

Sorry if this has been answered, did a search but did not find anything on how to fix it.

I am on Windows7 RC 7100build and just installed the CCCP Beta 2009-08-06c.exe.

Whenever I open any file now in MPC-HC I get the error popup that tells me no D3DX9 dll found, after i click it twice the vid plays but the popup is annoying.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to fix this issue? I have DX11, do I have to like downgrade to DX9 or something?

Forgot to mention before installing CCCP I could open any file in MCP-HC without getting this error.

Thanks!

Not a downgrade, just install. Alternatively change the video renderer in mpc-hc to one where it doesn't keep complaining.

What version and/or where you got it from, and with what settings exactly? If you want to use your custom one, you really shouldn't have installed the one in CCCP.

This has been mentioned before here.

All you need to do is to install the latest DirectX Redist. Microsoft does not bundle the updated D3DX9 dlls with any versions of Windows. MPC-HC uses d3dx9_41.dll or later for faster shader operations since Microsoft has optimised the shader compilers.

Actually, all you need is the "d3dx9_41.dll" file located in the DirectX9 runtime distribution, located in the "Mar2009_d3dx9_41_x64.cab" (or x86 id you are 32 bits) of the archive.
No need to install the whole DirectX9 stuff on Windows 7 (hopefully).

Just install the whole thing. It's not like it's downgrading to DX9 if you install it properly. -_-

1. Open the video in MPC-HC and tell me what items are listed in the menu: 'Play-> Filters.'
Download the CCCP Insurgent and:
2. Tools > Media Information > "problem file"
3. Tools > Test Render > "problem file"
4. Tools > CRC Check > "problem file"
5. File > Save Log
6. Open the log you just saved in Notepad and copy the entire contents into your next post.

And it's a helluva lot easier to troubleshoot when you don't mix and match.

It might be useful if you want to avoid the whole hueg bloat, but you will want the 32-bit version there unless you're using a random 64-bit build of mpc-hc and not CCCP. Whether you will litter it into the windows dirs or some random other one in your %PATH% is entirely up to you.

No need to install the whole DirectX9 stuff on Windows 7 (hopefully).
Just so this doesn't mislead anyone: DirectX 9 support (along with all previous versions) itself is included in Windows 7, and the runtime update contains lots of DX10 and other random stuff too.

I am trying to install 2010-10-10 on Windows 7 (32bit). I have installed directx_mar2009_redist and d3dx9 DLLs can be found in \windows\system32, but Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2010-10-10 still complains that d3dx9 is missing. What's wrong?

OK. After installing the latest DirectX End-User Runtime (directx_Jun2010_redist), CCCP-2010-10-10 installer no longer complains that d3dx9 is missing.

I suggest adding a note for it to the release notes.

Thanks. I should have followed the instructions provided by the installer, instead of this thread. ;)

I've uploaded the necessary d3dx9_43 file here. Once downloaded, simply place in your System32 folder and you're good to go.

Edit: Updated link to newer d3dx9_43 dll.

* Lord thinks you can get countless results with google if you really want to go that way

And you will probably want 43 then anyway.

Microsoft has moved some stuff out of the D3DX9_xx.dll to another separate dll. Thats why you must install the latest DirectX Runtimes, you can't just take a dll and put into any folder, it doesn't work like that.

The D3DX files worked mostly like that at least. For some others you had to register them too, but that's it.
