Strange rendering above a diagonal on the screen
« on: April 19, 2007, 11:20:27 PM »

Hi I'm having a problem watching a couple videos. I'm getting weird renderings above a diagonal line that runs from the top left to the bottom right of the screen. Above this line, all the colors look weird and phase in and out. I tried to grab a frame but the picture that came out didn't show the problem. If I skip around during pause, it looks fine, but playing the video gives me the problem.

It happened for these files:
[Lunar] sola - 01 [EE3DDAA0].avi
[Lunar] sola - 02 [x264][E63D1588].avi
[a.f.k.] Lucky Star - 02.avi
[Shinsen-Subs]_Kaze_no_Stigma_-_01_[AB18F3AD].avi

But I can run a lot of other vids fine.

I just bought a new computer and installed only cccp.
CPU: intel QX6700 quadcore 3.2 ghz
RAM: 4 gig
vid card: nvidia 880 gtx SLI
OS: windows xp with media center 2005
player: mpc, wmp11, zoomplayer

I've tried uninstalling and installing cccp and rolling back vid card drivers. What else should I try? Thanks in advance.

what resolution is your desktop set at? Can you also download the insurgent and post a tools -> test render on a couple of the files?
Finally, open cccp settings and on the second page, click 'reset all settings' and see if that helps.

[Lunar] sola - 02 [x264][E63D1588].avi
Fake or someone randomly renaming files?

My desktop resolution is set at 1920x1200. I'm using a dell ultrasharp 2407 fwp and 2 geforce 8800 gtx cards in sli mode.

CCCP Insurgent returns this:

The reset all settings didn't do anything for the problem, and neither did turning off sli mode.

Our beloved 8800 again. Try this: Start -> Programs -> CCCP -> ffdshow video -> Output (left side, all the way down), enable yv12 and apply. The play in CCCP's MPC and Zoom.

Please post a full Insurgent log from file -> save log (even if the issue is fixed by yv12) for us to take a look. We've had a few other people with 8800 problems and would like to compare for similarities.

Emptyeighty, you are my freakin hero. Looks like enabling the yv12 did the trick. Here's the full log. Thanks again.

Hi, new monkey. I also just bought an 8800. I just installed the 158.19 released on 4/17/2007 and I was experiencing the same issue.

I resolved it either by switching something other than the Overlay filter, or by using the method posted in this thread.

Same here. GTS 8800, diagonal line and stuff messed up in the upper right part. yv12 did the trick, so thanks :-)

Of course, what I'd really like to know... how should someone get that idea in the first place? I guess I'll have to do a lot of option studying...

Tried different renderers in MPC before trying the forum... no result, of course.

Vidcards have been having problems with colorspaces since ancient times. Although faster for MPEG1/2/4 vids yv12 isn't enabled in CCCP by default since very old cards would only work with yuy2. Who could have known that nvidia would break yuy2 in their latest and greatest cards? Anyway, since said ancient vidcards will die out soon yv12 will be enabled by default in the next CCCP and all should be good for just about any card on the market, and faster too.

Hey there. Just a heads up. Long time user of the pack. I have an 8800GTS, and was experiencing this bug. Retrograding my drivers back to the 97.94's also fixes this issue, although that's interesting to know about the YV12 enable. I did notice that the 158.xxx drivers are beta, not qualified drivers.

Hope this helps you guys.

Another note: don't use VMR7 or 9 if you can help it! Chances are they have broken black/white levels. If black looks grey, you should use overlay or haali's renderer instead.
