Here's the problem, I have an .avi with english subtitles on .srt.  It played fine the first two times, now it's not playing the subs at all.  The only change made to my computer after the second playing of the movie, before it stopped showing the subtitles, was that I downloaded a conversion program that would change .avi to a format playable on a standard DVD player.

I've done the search for the codec, downloaded VobSub that was recommended, and no go.

I have the newest version of CCCP, I uninstalled the conversion program, and uninstalled, then reinstalled the CCCP, and now I'm getting an error message, and it won't play at all.

I've run virus scans, and spyware scans.  The computer is well protected, and clean.

I have WinXP professional.

What am I doing wrong?  Which program should the .srt file be using?  All it shows in an icon is the little symbol that comes up when the system doesn't know what application should run it.

Just a quick note on something I've discovered...

Other files with subtitles are playing them just fine.  It seems to be just this one movie.

You shouldn't be using VobSub at all, since CCCP installs a newer version of it, known as VSFilter.
