I suppose it doesn't exactly hurt to leave it (since it is working), but personally I would remove it.

Sorry, forgot.

Should i leave it as it is now that it seems to work or run the insurgent as administrator and remove the AC3filter as well?

I tested it again today and it still works, the video seems to go a bit smoother than before the filter too.

I want to assume it is fixed, so i deeply thank you for your help, and your codec pack, and your patience with my my limited technological knowledge.

And yes, i did not run the insurgent as administrator, i always forget that.

Thanks again, a lot.

Can i come back here if the same or other issues arise?

Could the latest VSfilter really fix it? Does that sound reasonably possible?

Absolutely, xy-vsfilter is much faster.

By the way, the error you had with trying to remove AC3Filter seems to be access denied, so were you running the CCCP Insurgent with elevated permissions as 'Administrator'?

It's possible to have issues in the future as all "1080p" videos are encoded differently. Some can require more CPU power to play than others.

If you have such issues, try enable LAV video decoder on the first page of the CCCP Settings application. After that, open the video in MPC-HC and confirm that it is being loaded by checking the Play-> Filters menu.

After adding the new VSfilter, and renaming the old one, it actually seems fixed. But i am a cautious person, and i know the moment you really think it's fixed, it'll stop working again, technology just loves messing with you.

So tomorrow, i'll do more testing. If it remains like this for a few days i'll assume it works. I'll be back again here to tell you how it goes, i can't thank you enough if it really is fixed.

So far, i have tried going through two movies and watching the most sound-demanding parts, with no problems. And an episode i have deemed perfect for testing this, an episode set almost entirely in a rainstorm. Even there i have found not a single audio cut-out.

Could the latest VSfilter really fix it? Does that sound reasonably possible?

Should i expect it to come back soon?

Core2 Duo is probably too weak also for that.

Ok, i'll leave this here for you to read whenever you can.

I downloaded the filter, 3.00-something. I found 2.40 in the CCCP filter folder too, will replace and test.

However, in the insurgent, when i had gone to tools - advanced, marked AC3filter (apparently a part of Formatfactory or something) and clicked unregister, i got this error:

RegSvr32:
"Module C:\Program Files\FreeTime\FormatFactory\FFModule...ac3filter.ax was found but contact to DLLUnregisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005"

Note that the above is translated by me to English, so might not be 100 percent correct.

xy-vsfilter will help speed up any lag that's to do with subtitles. Rename the old VSFilter (by default: c:\Program Files (x86)\Combined Community Codec Pack\Filters\VSFilter.dll) and then unzip and put the new one from xy-vsfilter in it's place.

The CCCP Insurgent is not a virus. It won't do anything that you don't tell it to do, however due to it's work with codecs it has to change things in the registry (e.g. when unregistering AC3Filter).

By the way, I also need to go. Will be back in 6+ hours. Depends on when I wake up. :/

We are talking past eachother so i'll ght all to the same point now, i also need to go soon, but i'll be back soon enough.

I could not un-install in the control panel, but i have just downloaded the insurgent thing (through the link in your signature). But my anti-virus detects it as dangerous.

What is the thing you posted, vxfilter ...... I don't know if i have that, do i have to install that manually, did i ever have that? Can i see if i have it?

I also want to point out i am very grateful you help me, i really want it solved.

If it can't be uninstalled via the 'Programs' list in the 'Control Panel,' you can unregister it using the CCCP Insurgent. (Tools-> Advanced; find and select AC3Filter in the column on the very right and click 'Unregister Filter')

By the way, you will need to reinstall xy-vsfilter after reinstalling CCCP. https://code.google.com/p/xy-vsfilter/ It is highly recommended for use.

I have re-installed now, the problem remains and there is occassional slight video lag.

How do i un-install AC3filter?

Uninstall AC3Filter. That does not come with CCCP and can break some things.

Play - Filters are:

Default Directsound Device, Audio Switcher, Enhanched Video Renderer, Directvobsub, AC3filter, ffdshow Video/Audio Decoder.

Also, now when i opened to look, the sound was gone, i'll be re-installing.

The Insurgent doesn't fix or change anything by itself. It is a tool for gathering information about codecs installed on your computer. I need information from the Insurgent as well as step one which is codec information from MPC-HC.

Reinstall by running the CCCP 2011-11-11 installer. It won't make anything worse, but you need to close all media players and restart if it asks you to.

Even after turning LAV off again it would not start, so i reset settings again (even though they should been reset) and now it starts, and the audio cut-out is much better but still present, seems to occur at specific moments now.

Should i go directly to the insurgent thing in your signature or do you have something else i should try first?

Edit: How do i re-install? Re-installing can't make it worse, can it?
