Multithreading as a normal user
« on: November 03, 2009, 05:20:59 PM »
Okay, yesterday I caught up on things and finally upgraded my CCCP. While I was testing to see if everything was done right, I was really pleased to see that in fact it can now play these 1,15GB-per-episode BR rips I had on my disk from pure fanboyism. Cheking MT in the Settings made it survive even the subtitles. So far, everything is great.
Then I tried the same as a normal user (I try to screw up things and get viruses on my PC only as normal user, so I have an account as normal user for everyday use). And suddenly, it didnt want to use both cores.

Some more detailed info:
As admin it was using 90%+ of CPU (not all the time ofc), reaching 99% in some places. Basically, it maxed out one of the cores and used as much as needed from the other. As normal user it didnt even max out one of the cores and used only ~20% of the other. This was like that both with 'MT' and without 'MT' - no difference at all.
edit 3: uhh, there ~was~ difference under admin between with and without MT. just to clarify. With MT it didnt lag even with subtitles.

So? What is this, some kind of problem with giving rights?

System info:
(click to show/hide)

codecs: pretty sure it's only CCCP.
player: MPC, ofc
filename: Bakemonogatari_ED_[1080p,BluRay,x264]_-_qIIq-THORA.mkv (this is the usual thing I tested with, but other files gave the same results; on the other hand it's true every BR rip release I have is THORA)
(click to show/hide)

edit: just tested it, four 720p mkvs played in the same time properly max out the CPU
same goes for two of these BR rips like the one I mentioned above.

edit 2: I just realised that you shorten BluRay to BR not BD. yeah, well, whatever.

Did you make sure to run the Settings app as the exact same user as for the player you use?

so it ~is~ BD after all. doesnt make much se... Bluray Disk. Oh.

Well, the Settings app wants admin password to start, so I am not entirely sure. I did start it under the normal user acc, but it wanted admin password.

Officially "Blu-ray Disc" AFAIK.

Ugh, that might be a side-effect from being UAC-aware. If you refuse to give it the pass will it just not run at all? You may have to poke the ffdshow video decoder config manually then while we investigate (under Codecs, set H.264/AVC to ffmpeg-mt).
